In an innovative approach to ammunition sales, two Alabama grocery stores have introduced AI-powered vending machines that dispense gun ammunition after verifying the buyer’s age and identity through facial recognition and ID scans. These machines are designed to streamline purchasing ammunition, making it more accessible to law-abiding citizens.

The initiative has received legal clearance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. With plans to expand to Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas, targeting areas where hunting is prevalent, this move represents a significant shift in the landscape of ammunition sales, enhancing Second Amendment rights.

Customers have expressed overwhelming enthusiasm for the convenience these kiosks offer. This technology not only simplifies the purchasing process but also sets a new standard for secure and efficient ammunition sales.

The CA Excise Tax is Now In Effect

As of July 1, 2024, California has implemented an 11% excise tax on firearms, parts, and ammunition sales, in addition to the existing 6% sales tax. This presents a significant challenge for California FFLs, who must now manage complex quarterly state payments.

The good news is that Trident 1’s advanced POS system is ready to help. Our updated software automates tax calculations and generates detailed reports, ensuring smooth compliance with these new regulations.
