Spotlight
The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has lifted the stay on an injunction against California’s “one-gun-per-month” law, effectively halting its enforcement. This ruling allows Californians to purchase multiple firearms within a 30-day period, a practice previously prohibited by state law.
During the hearing for Nguyen v. Bonta, judges openly challenged the state’s justifications. Judge Danielle Forrest questioned the law’s efficacy in deterring arms trafficking, while Judge John Owens emphasized potential infringements on self-defense rights.
This decision marks a positive shift for Second Amendment advocates, as the Ninth Circuit—historically known for upholding gun restrictions—now appears more receptive to constitutional arguments against firearm regulations.

FPC Files Brief Towards New Mexico’s Carry Ban
Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) has escalated its fight against New Mexico’s firearm restrictions by filing a brief with the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. The lawsuit contests Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s executive order banning the carry of firearms in public parks and playgrounds, which FPC argues infringes on constitutional rights. The brief asserts that the ban causes irreparable harm to law-abiding citizens and seeks a preliminary injunction to halt enforcement.

ATF’s “Frame or Receiver” Rule is Challenged
In a critical case for gun rights advocates, the U.S. Supreme Court is set to review the ATF’s controversial “Frame or Receiver” Rule. Plaintiffs, represented by the Firearms Policy Coalition, argue that the rule represents an overreach of the agency’s authority and contradicts definitions established by Congress. The case, Garland v. VanDerStok, questions the ATF’s power to redefine what constitutes a firearm frame or receiver.
