The Massachusetts legislature has unexpectedly delayed new firearm training requirements that were set to begin in October 2024. This decision was made through a hidden amendment in a budget bill signed on September 16.

Jim Wallace, Executive Director of GOAL, commented, “This amendment shows that Chapter 135 was never properly reviewed.” While the training requirements are suspended, many other parts of the law remain in effect, including new gun rosters and retailer inspections.
